Yosei ridden by Michelle Payne has taken out today’s Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara at Eagle Farm ahead of the heavily backed Beaded in second position and Born To Rock in third position.
The Stuart Webb-trained Yosei scored her third win at the elite level when she won the last Group One race of the season, the Tattersall’s Tiara, at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Ridden by Michelle Payne who was also aboard in the filly’s previous Group One wins in the 2010 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Randwick and Thousand Guineas at Caulfield, Yosei fought back after being headed by the favourite Beaded to win narrowly but convincingly.
Payne allowed Yosei plenty of time to find her feet in the $500,000 1400m feature and the three-year-old had only one runner behind her early.
But she displayed great tenacity in the run to the line after Beaded had raced to the lead halfway down the straight.
Beaded looked set to claim her second Group One victory to go with her Doomben 10,000 win but Yosei responded gamely to Payne’s riding to grab the prize.
Born To Rock was third.
